Picture yourself swaying gently on the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea. The sun’s warmth caressing your skin, and a gentle breeze tousling your hair. Finding your own secluded bay to anchor in for the night. The perfect spot to enjoy the sunset with a glass of local wine!
This bucket list dream holiday, sailing around the Ionioan Islands offers a perfect blend of azure waters, picturesque landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and the freedom to explore hidden gems at your own pace.
After our huge success in Croatia, Powerboat Club UK invites you to join us in September 2025 as we explore the stunning Ionian Islands in Greece.
“So, sign me up!”, I here you say. Well hang on, at least let me tell you where we are going first.
We have some stunning bays and islands to take you to…. the stuff dreams are made of!
We also have the added bonus that Captain Jamie spent a number of years in the Ionian taking boats around the very islands we are going to.
He has the inside scoop on the best food, sheltered bays, parties, all the best spots and fantastic tavernas for us to visit!
The Itinerary – 13th to 20th September 2025
As always with boating the weather will influence the final route. However, the days are fairly predictable in the Ionian. Long balmy mornings with a breeze getting up in the afternoon.
- Day 1 (Saturday): Check-in at Lefkas marina at 17:00 – Meganisi (11 nm)
- Day 2 (Sunday): Meganisi – Sivota (15 nm)
- Day 3 (Monday): Sivota – Kefalonia (22 nm)
- Day 4 (Tuesday): Kefalonia – Ithaka (18 nm)
- Day 5 (Wednesday): Kioni – Atokos – Kalamos/Kastos (18 nm) OR Ithaka Kioni – Atokos – back to Kefalonia/Fiskardo (20 nm)
- Day 6 (Thursday): Kalamos or Fiskardo – Meganisi/Atheris (15-22 nm)
- Day 7 (Friday): Stop en route at a choice of beautiful coves before heading back to our main port for dinner ashore.
Day 1 – Meet at Lefkas Marina at 17:00 & head to Meganisi.
We encourage you to arrive with snacks and drinks you might like to enjoy throughout the week. There is a supermarket within the marina.
However, if you are passing one on your way, you might find there is more choice as all the charter yachts will be stocking up for their week ahead too. If you’ve been out with us before you know the chaos of crews grabbing everything they can. If you haven’t been with us yet, believe me when I say preparation is key.
Lefkas Marina is only 20 minutes from Preveza Airport and the marina is only a short stroll into Lefkas Town.
Excitement will kick in as we get ready to set sail on the first afternoon after check in. We’re off to Maganisi Island!
Day 2 – Sivota Bay.
First day, waking up on anchor is a feeling like no other! Hop in for a swim or sit on deck with a nice cup of tea.
Crew to the ready…. today we head to Beautiful Sivota Bay.
Sit back and enjoy the breeze, the views and a good book perhaps, before we arrive on the South Eastern corner of Lefkas Island. Here we will find a sheltered and very pretty anchorage in a large natural horseshoe bay with a wide choice of tavernas.
Freshly caught lobster anyone? It’s a local speciality. Definitely a spot to enjoy a sunset cocktail!!
Day 3 – Kefalonia
After another morning swim, stroll and coffee with a view, the camaraderie of the crew builds as we get the boat ready for the next step of our journey – we are off to Fiskardo.
Fiskardo is located on the Northern tip of Kefalonia and is said to be the most scenic spot in the Ionion Islands – don’t forget your camera!
There are many hidden gems South of Fiskardo for us to take our pick of where to drop anchor for a swim in the crystal clear waters, or just relax on the bow and enjoy the haven that surrounds you.
There are also caves to be explored. “Get the tender ready Captain!”. Or perhaps you might like to take the tender into town instead and find a spot to enjoy the local cuisine?
Day 4 – Ithaki Straight
The Ithaki Straight is 20 km long and runs between the islands of Kefalonia and Ithaca.
We will sail to the best anchorage on the day based on the weather forecast. More importantly, you’ll be able to take in the views of both islands as you sail the same waters that the heroes of ancient Greece once protected.
Day 5 – Kioni
Today we set off to Kioni, located on the South East of the island of Ithaca. The most beautiful village on the island with its picturesque traditional, well-maintained houses built in the amphitheatre rising from the sea and losing themselves in the woodlands of the surrounding hillsides.
Take your pick from the many tavernas lining the glistening waterfront, providing a tranquil little breakfast spot and an ambient atmosphere for evening dining. Make sure to get all of Captain Jamie’s best tips for the area.
Day 6 – Atherinos Cove
One of the locals favourite places to enjoy on the island, a good spot for snorkelling and several waterfront restaurants to choose from.
Atherinos is 7.5 kilometres of sheltered harbour lined with typical white sandy beaches. It’s a haven for marine life and an ideal place for those waterproof GoPro cameras.
Day 7 – Return to base
It’s time to get back to our home port of Lefkas. Stopping at one of the idyllic natural coves en route.
An excellent opportunity for a final swim before reaching the marina and heading out for a fun farewell dinner. We can reminisce over our adventurous week and raise a glass to each other. We then have to disembark from the yachts by 9am on the following morning.
The Catamarans
We have secured two well equipped Lagoon 42 yachts
The Lagoon 42 catamaran is a stunning, modern yacht and is undoubtedly one of the most ideal and popular sailing catamarans available for yacht charter in the Mediterranean. With lots of space above and below deck for sunbathing, relaxing and dining with plenty of places around the yacht for relaxing in the sunshine or the shade.
We have also hired a dingy for each boat which gets us to and from the tavernas. These boats are such a fun feature of the trip and enable us to conquer the shores with our own boarding parties.
Your Skippers
Each boat will be skippered by a Yachtmaster Sailing instructor. Firstly, this is necessary. In order to able to charter one of these amazing yachts you have to be a qualified sailor.
Secondly, it is an opportunity for you to get an introduction to sailing. Your skippers will run you through a thorough brief, show you how everything works and get you settled in.
Leaving and arriving in marinas are a really fun part of the trip as everyone has role to play in throwing lines, catching them, getting fenders ready and there is a great feeling of success and camaraderie in coming together to make it happen.
These salty sea dogs will be your skippers for the week. There is bound to be many tales of sailing adventures and I would suggest hiding the rum!
The finer details
The price for the trip is on a per cabin basis. There are seven cabins available across both boats, each cabin is equipped with a double bed and air conditioning.
The cost of the cabin is £3,500 for the week which includes bedding, towels, skipper, insurance, damage deposit waiver, wifi, a generator for charging devices and powering appliances, a tender and a 2.5HP outboard engine. The price is for the cabin regardless of whether there are one or two people sleeping in it.
Boat costs will be divided equally between everyone on board. Boat costs include consumables such as fuel, food for breakfast and lunches on board, soft drinks and water, marina fees and anything else that the group needs. Typically it’s easiest for everyone to put money into a kitty at the start of the week and share the change at the end of the week. The budget for the kitty is 200 euros per person.
Finally, you will have to make your own way to Prerveza airport. An ideal flight, which we will be on too, leaves from Gatwick and costs under £500. We can share details with you if you decide to come along.
To book your spot please pay the deposit using the booking button below. The balance for the trip is due in May 2025. 18+ only please as it’s quite a party.
Are you ready to experience the charm of these stunning islands, with their countless anchorages, in picturesque bays surrounded by olive groves and cypress trees?
The perfect week is just a decision away!
